NUDO
House in Caniçada is thoughtfully situated within a densely wooded landscape near the Caniçada reservoir in Vieira do Minho. The architectural design expands upon the existing structure, transforming it into a three-story volume that organizes a traditional single-family house. The upper floor hosts private living areas, while the two lower levels accommodate social spaces. Large openings on opposing facades create a visual dialogue—one marking the entrance and the other framing the picturesque reservoir view-enhancing the connection between interior and exterior.
The approach to landscaping is deliberately minimal, preserving the site’s natural density and reinforcing the sense of shelter provided by the surrounding forest. By maintaining the integrity of its environment, House in Caniçada embodies a design philosophy that prioritizes immersion and discretion, ensuring that the architecture coexists harmoniously with the land.
