About the project

In the idyllic village of Deurle, Belgium, situated along the serene river Lys, stands a villa that masterfully bridges past and future. Initially conceived by Ivan Van Mossevelde for an art collector, this building has been skillfully transformed into the headquarters of Glenn Sestig Architects. This renovation honors the villa’s history and introduces contemporary sensibility.

The restoration emphasizes a fluid dialogue between the interior and exterior spaces. OTIIMA’s elegant window frames, featuring self-supporting clear glass and slender aluminum profiles, facilitate this connection, enabling an uninterrupted flow of natural light throughout the residence. The villa’s symmetrical layout, central patio, and selected materials—including natural stone flooring and indirect lighting—forge a dramatic and tranquil atmosphere. Highlighted in ARK JOURNAL, the Matthys-Colle House is an architectural icon and a celebration of 50 years of design evolution, preserving its original essence while boldly embracing a new future.
